The original Disney princess was Snow White, titular star of the first feature length animated film in 1937. More than 75 years later, she is still a popular character and the movie is still a hit with adults and children alike. Over 60 years ago, Cinderella came to life in a Disney film and more than half a century ago, Sleeping Beauty was released and Aurora became another Disney noblewoman. These royal girls are beloved today by girls as well as their parents, grandparents and even great grandparents.
The Little Mermaid (Ariel) and Beauty (Belle) are relative newcomers who have been around for a little less than a quarter century. Aladdin's Jasmine, Pocahontas and Mulan made their debut in the 1990s while the Princess and the Frog's Tiana, Tangled's Rapunzel and Brave's Merida are all 21st century royalty. The newest princesses are Elsa and Anna from 2014's Frozen.
