Give thanks this year by dressing your child in one of our boy's Thanksgiving costumes. Whether he wants to be a Pilgrim, an Indian, or a turkey, there's a costume perfect for a Thanksgiving party or play. Thanksgiving is a major U.S. holiday and the start of the winter holiday season. All over the country, families gather together to give thanks for what they have, to watch parades and football games, and to feast on turkey, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. The holiday itself commemorates the First Thanksgiving, a harvest holiday feast in 1621 attended by the Pilgrims and local Native Americans.
The classic Pilgrim look features a black shirt and knickers, a wide white collar and wrist cuffs, a tall black hat, and black shoes with big buckles. If your boy is playing a Pilgrim in a Thanksgiving play or while marching in a local parade, then this costume will make him look the way they are traditionally depicted. In reality, Pilgrims probably didn't dress that way. If your boy wants a somewhat more historically accurate costume then he can choose from one of our Colonial or frontiersman outfits. These are available in many styles and colors and while they don't look like the classic black outfits, are probably closer to what Pilgrims really wore.
The local Native American Wampanoag tribe were very much responsible for helping the Pilgrim colony survive the previous winter. They taught the colonists how to fish and grow corn and even provided supplies during the long, cold winter. It's only natural that the Pilgrims invited the Indians to participate in the first Thanksgiving feast, and 90 of them came. Your boy can pretend to be one of them with any of our Native American costumes. These realistic suede-like outfits feature tribal fringe and patterns and, along with accessories like feather headdresses and bows, make the perfect Indian costume.
