It’s fun to dress in an evil warlock costume and think you have magical powers. Hell, I do it even when I’m not dressed in a warlock costume. Who wouldn’t want to lead an undead army or shoot flames out of their hands?
However, some people take the whole warlock thing a tad too far. William Lambert, 74, for example, took his love of being a warlock to the extreme, even going so far as to cause serious and irreversible damage to four schoolgirls.
More than 20 years ago, William Lambert ran a youth club in an outbuilding at St Dunstan’s Church. It was during this time that Lambert proclaimed that he was a warlock and that he could instill his magical powers into girls by having sexual intercourse with them. This led to Lambert raping four of the schoolgirls who were part of the club.
Recently, one of the girls came forward to claim that she had been raped by Lambert during the time of him running the youth club. Police then tracked down three other girls who were also involved with Lambert. Each of them have told their stories, which involve a strange mixture of lies, false magic, and sexual deviancy.
One girl said that Lambert raped her on a tombstone, saying that she would “get power from the black floating monk.” The monk was believed to be haunting the church, and apparently Lambert was able to channel its power. On another occasion, Lambert hugged one of his crying victims, telling her, “It’s all right sweetheart, you have done it, you have done it.”
The stories all had similar traits: Lambert “spellbound” the girls into having sexual relations with him, claiming that he would be able to solve their problems through his use of magic. He even claimed he could abort the baby of a girl who thought she was pregnant. And since most of the girls came from abused backgrounds, they originally looked to Lambert for security and safety. But once he had gained their trust, he was able to manipulate them through deceit and false promises, further damaging their already fragile psyches.
All of the attacks by Lambert took place in a small room adjoined to the main club room. The girls were often invited into the room by other girls, who claimed it was part of the “initiation ceremonies” to reach the next level of “witch powers.” Inside the room was an “occult style triangle” on the wall, and Lambert often raped a girl while another held his victim’s hand.
Lambert denies all four counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault. In fact, he accuses the girls of “malicious fabrication.” For now, the trial continues.
